This is a Barnet Boroughwatch message:

One of our members in Barnet received a phone call from a male who stated that he was calling on behalf of BT to the effect that she owed £9.28p on an unpaid bill.

If this was not paid straight away by credit card they would be cut off.

She was suspicious and called BT  who stated that under no circumstances would they ever phone for  payment.  All bills are posted.

Please pass this scam on to your neighbours as we suspect that this will be repeated throughout our area.
