Warm Weather Warning!!

The warm weather is here, but this has led to a number of Burglaries in the last week only happening because its been made easy for the opportunist thief to walk in through open windows and patio doors.

Barnet Borough Police are emphasising that residents need to be more cautious about leaving exterior doors and windows open and unlocked.  Whenever the house is unoccupied, exterior doors must be locked and ALL ground floor windows MUST be closed and locked if possible. When residents are at home care must be taken to ensure that all ground floor windows are closed and where possible locked before retiring for the night.

Detective Inspector Afiz Khan said,

“It is a very important message not to make life easy for the burglar. Opportunist thieves can think of nothing better than an open door or window to aid them in committing their crime. Remember burglars will look for the easiest target so leaving the downstairs window open overnight has only made your house that potential target. Taking care of the security of our homes will put these burglars out of business”
